Membrane filters.
Cellulose nitrate (CN) demonstrates superior recovery of microorganisms. Membranes conform to Standard Methods and can be autoclaved at 121ºC.
Cellulose acetate (CA):
Low adsorption of proteins from serum or culture media. Excellent thermal properties. Autoclavable, must be wet when autoclaved.
Prefilters, (GF) glass-fiber thin.
White nylon (NYL):
For both aqueous and organic solvent filtrations where reduced contamination is important. Inherently hydrophilic; extremely low levels of extractables; contain no wetting agent. Less brittle and easier to handle than cellulosics.
