Potential contamination as weel as root and tissue damage are reduced as many different stages of plant tissue culture can now be completed in one vessel without the necessity of transferring tissue from one vesel to another. Nutrient and oxygen uptake is improved because tissue is supported on a floating explant holder that keeps the tissue in constant contact with the medium.
